What are your ‘must haves’ to start the working day?
I love kicking off my day with a warm shower, which helps me feel refreshed and ready to take on the day. I also make sure I have a big mug of coffee—it’s the perfect pick-me-up that fuels my focus and sets a positive tone for the tasks ahead.
What’s your proudest work achievement to date?
Creating software solutions that truly resonate with customers and make their lives easier is what drives me. My proudest achievement to date has been designing and delivering an intuitive application that solved a significant challenge for SVGC customers. The positive feedback I received from customers, praising how seamless and user-friendly the solution was, reaffirmed my passion for creating software that not only works but also delights.
What do you love most about what you do?
What I love most about my work is the satisfaction of seeing the final result after hours of writing code. There’s a unique sense of accomplishment that comes from transforming complex challenges into functional, efficient solutions. Watching something I’ve built come to life and knowing it works seamlessly is incredibly rewarding.
The process of coding, debugging, and refining to achieve a polished end product is what keeps me motivated and passionate about what I do. It’s the perfect combination of creativity and problem-solving, and it’s immensely fulfilling to see my efforts pay off.
What does your typical working day look like?
My day typically begins with some preparation, starting with organising my to-do list to prioritise tasks and set clear goals for the day. I then have morning meetings, which are often a mix of catching up on team updates and engaging in a bit of small talk—setting a positive and collaborative tone for the day ahead.
Once the day is underway, I focus on ticking off tasks one by one, maintaining a steady pace while staying flexible to address any unexpected challenges that arise. This structure helps me stay organised and productive, ensuring that I stay on track while allowing room for collaboration and problem-solving as needed.
When you hit a wall workwise, what do you do to help overcome the hurdle?
When I encounter a challenge at work, I make it a priority to ask for help if I feel it’s needed. I believe in leveraging the expertise of others and collaborating to find the best solutions.
However, if it’s a challenge I feel I can tackle on my own, I often step away for a short break, whether it’s enjoying a cup of tea or taking a walk. This gives me a moment to clear my mind and gain a fresh perspective. When I return, I often find that I can approach the problem with a renewed sense of clarity and creativity, enabling me to work through the hurdle more effectively.
