The growth of staff development and expertise at SVGC spans from collaborative work with like minded suppliers and organisations, knowledge transfer partnerships, attending industry conferences and events, as well as recognised qualifications requiring additional study time and exams.
Our most recent success story is that of our newest recruit, Data Scientist Paige Bunker, who recently completed the Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate certification. In order to study and gain this certification candidates are required to have expertise in applying data science and machine learning to implement and run machine learning workloads on Azure and Azure Databricks, our Paige was the perfect candidate.
The course and exam focuses on building an understanding of how to use Microsoft Azure tools for data science applications. Including planning and creating suitable working environments for data science workloads, testing models, training predictive models, web deployment, as well as managing, optimising and deploying machine learning models into production. These skills result in quicker and faster processes and in some cases can be merged into already used applications like Jupyter Notebook so is easy to adapt.
This additional qualification for Paige means that not only does Paige herself benefit from progressing her knowledge for her career, but SVGC has gained yet another tool in our toolbox for data science projects.
