At SVGC we’re proud to be a small business formed of experienced, highly qualified people operating on a national platform.
Judith joins SVGC as our new Recruitment Manager. With a wealth of experience in recruitment across diverse sectors and a clear passion for people, Judith brings both strategic insight and a personal touch to her role.
What are your ‘must haves’ to start the working day?
The day must start with a cup of English Breakfast Tea – nothing else hits the spot. Then it’s Classic FM on the radio, followed by a walk over the fields with my English Springer Spaniel, Jessie. It’s the perfect way to ease into the day.
What’s your proudest work achievement to date?
There are two standouts. First, developing and launching a series of recruitment industry qualifications and training courses, which were delivered nationally and supported over 4,000 recruiters each year. Second, my work at Newcastle University Business School, where I helped reshape their recruitment and onboarding processes. Both were incredibly rewarding.
What do you love most about what you do?
I thrive on interacting with such a wide range of people. I’ve recruited across industries – from education to technical roles – and across the globe. It’s endlessly fascinating. I also really enjoy becoming a trusted advisor to hiring managers, taking some of the pressure off and helping them navigate the recruitment process more effectively.
What does your typical working day look like?
I’m a big fan of lists! I usually begin by reviewing my to-do list and balancing immediate tasks with longer-term projects. For instance, finalising the SVGC Talent Sourcing Strategy and planning activities for a team Away Day. I really enjoy the variety in my work.
When you hit a wall workwise, what do you do to help overcome the hurdle?
I put the kettle on – usually for another cup of English Breakfast Tea – and if the weather’s good, I take a short walk around the garden. It’s a great way to reset before diving back in.
