SVGC Digital partnered with AKER Systems to develop and create new state-of-the-art digital solutions that enhanced the summary and presentation of data for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The UK Government required support to deliver a systematic method of geopolitical assessment and analysis to enable evidence-based decision making and forecasting for the Ministry of Defence, working collaboratively with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), that looked 15 years into the military’s future.

Part of The Ministry of Defence (MOD), the Defence Nuclear Organisation (DNO) was established to focus resources and efforts around the UK’s defence nuclear business. As a new organisation, the DNO were looking to reevaluate and build upon their end-to-end acquisition process to evolve best practice methods for requirements and performance management.

Due to the higher level of risks to be monitored during the winter, the UK Government Civil Contingencies Secretariat (CCS) puts together a ‘Winter Monitoring Cell’ (WMC) to report on the various risks that may need to be addressed within the UK. This was particularly vital during the winter of 2020/21 with the presence of Covid-19 and Brexit looming.

The CCS required expertise in data science and analysis to ensure reporting was delivered effectively and accurately. To do this they enlisted the services of several experts, including SVGC.

Collaborative working is essential to us here at SVGC. Our ongoing project, working with FCDO Services to execute The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) Digital Sensitivity Review (DSR) is a perfect example of the incredible results that come from collaboration. Combining our expertise with the innovative thinkers from the University of Glasgow, as well as establishing a team of specialist suppliers, enabled us to deliver an efficient and effective business process and the creation of cutting edge technology solutions for the public sector.

Working together under a formal ISO44001 collaborative working relationship since 2018, SVGC and FCDO Services have aided The Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office’s (FCDO) to execute their Digital Sensitivity Review (DSR) using state of the art digital solutions.

Having provided consultancy support to refine and improve the Defence Nuclear Organisation’s (DNO) requirements and programme management approach, SVGC identified the need for digital innovation to upgrade processes.

The system already in place was robust, but didn’t align with evolving business needs. To solve this, SVGC designed and developed a bespoke integrated capability tool which enabled staff to engage, understand and work with the requirements set and key performance information. The solution enabled insight into project contributions that would stand up to scrutiny for formal approval in this highly regulated environment.
