SVGC has held an ISO9001 certification for over 22 years, but we’re delighted to report that this month we received a re-confirmation of our continued ISO9001 certification with NO non-conformances, a highly unusual occurrence!

What is ISO9001?

ISO9001 is the world’s most recognised Quality Management System (QMS) standard. It aims to help organisations meet the needs of their customers and other stakeholders more effectively. This is achieved by building a framework to ensure consistent quality in the provision of goods and/or services.

The standard is based on 7 quality management principles, including having a strong customer focus, the involvement of top management, and a drive for continual improvement.

The seven quality management principles are:

  1. Customer focus
  2. Leadership
  3. Engagement of people
  4. Process approach
  5. Improvement
  6. Evidence-based decision making
  7. Relationship management

ISO9001 sets out the essential requirements for a practical and effective quality management system (QMS) which is, in essence, a system for minimising risk and maximising opportunity. It is used by a diverse array of organizations, from giant multinational corporations to local community groups.

Why is it important?

An ISO 9001 certification provides objective proof to your staff, partners, customers and the outside world that quality control is at the core of your business.

This is critical for SVGC and the work we do within Government organisations such as DNO, DE&S and FCDO Services. The calibre of our quality management system is required to be the best it can be.

Achieving this re-certification with no non-conformances illustrates how seriously we take our quality management system at SVGC and demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the very best approach is taken with everything we do.

Maintaining the ISO 9001 accreditation requires us to make continuous improvements in systems, staff training, organisational structure, and procedures for achieving successful outcomes for our customers. Well done to all of those involved.
