We’re pleased to announce another fantastic achievement for the SVGC team – the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award.
The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to defence and the armed forces community, and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge that acknowledges and understands that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.
Who is involved?
The Covenant supports serving personnel, service leavers, veterans, and their families, and is fulfilled by the different groups that have committed to making a difference.
These include:
- Central government, overseen by the Ministerial Covenant and Veterans Board
- Single Services (Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force)
Businesses of all sizes - Local government
- Charities
- Communities
- Cadet forces and their adult volunteers
On the achievement, our Managing Director Andrew Dixon said:
“It’s great to receive this recognition for our support of the armed forces community. SVGC was founded by military personnel and will always retain a link to, and honour for the role of the Armed Forces. We recognise the value serving personnel, reservists, veterans and military families bring to our business and to our country. In addition to our founders, many of our employees are ex-military and we expect to always have military personnel working with and within the business.
Our work within the public sector supports many projects within defence, providing expertise and pro-active, cost-effective support. Based on the same set of principles, we also support local military causes such as Larkhill Eventing & Racecourse.”
Congratulations to all the other 43 businesses in the Southwest who have also received this award!
