At SVGC we collectively have vast knowledge of strategic planning, public sector decisions, innovative technologies, data science and agile working methodologies, to name a few. We’re passionate about collaborating and sharing what we’ve learnt through the years with those within the sector and a wider audience.
Recently, our Senior Data Scientist, Anthony Wynne, has been doing just that. In October, Anthony presented at TechSkills, which brings together employers and educators to create and promote pathways into digital careers.
The event was hosted at Queen Mary’s University and was part of TechSkills campaign to bring in professionals working within the tech industry to tell students about what they can expect from a career in the field. Anthony’s contribution was to host an interactive workshop titled ‘Leading Innovation – from idea to delivery’ which took the students through a step-by-step process used within industry. The students are also currently participating in a drone building competition which Anthony used as an example within the session and that SVGC will be invited to give prizes at next year.
This work with TechSkills have meant that SVGC are now part of the Tech Industry Gold Employer Network. A network where employers of all sizes from every sector of the economy collaborate and work with universities to create degrees and degree apprenticeships that are highly valued by industry.
Not only does SVGC believe is inspiring the younger generation to get into the tech industry, we are also passionate about encouraging and supporting adults looking to either retrain or get back into the field after time away from work.
At the beginning of November, Anthony also spoke at the Daphne Jackson Trust 2022 Conference: Overcoming barriers and making an impact. The Daphne Jackson Trust is the UK’s leading organisation dedicated to realising the potential of returners to research careers following a career break of two years or more taken for a family, caring or health reason. As a fellow previously Anthony is passionate about supporting the cause and sharing his experience.
